Quick and Easy Pub Pretzels

Fight night, or ball games call for a couple things…..cold beers and PRETZELS!!! But not just some bagged tooth chipping, checker pieces. I’m talking about warm and chewy pub style pretzels. I figured I would share with you my down and dirty secret recipe to make some killer pub pretzels in your own casa. In this batch I’m gonna show, I made both traditional salted, as well as cinnamon sugar style. Personally I prefer the old school salted, but you be the judge. Enjoy:

Pub Pretzels

Ingredients:

One can of ready made pizza or french bread dough

2/3 cup baking soda

course salt

melted butter

pot of boiling water

Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Open the can of dough and cut into sections approx 2 inches long. Roll each section in to logs. Once water boils, carefully add the baking soda. Be really careful at this point because the soda in the boiling water will seem like a science experiment gone bad. Drop in 3 of the dough logs into the boiling water being sure to roll them to coat all sides. Leave them in for 30 seconds and then move them to a backing sheet that has been coated with non stick spray. Once all of the logs have had the soda bath, brush them with melted butter and sprinkle with coarse salt. Bake in the oven for 8-12 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool. As the pretzels cool they will become more chewy. Serve with mustard, beer cheese or whatever you choose.
