I Had ChatGPT Pick My Weekend EDC

Ever wondered what would happen if you let an AI pick your everyday carry (EDC) for a hot and humid weekend? Well, I decided to find out! With temperatures soaring and humidity levels through the roof, I turned to ChatGPT for some cool (pun intended) recommendations. Spoiler alert: it didn’t disappoint! The AI-Picked EDC

Here’s what ChatGPT suggested for my weekend EDC:

  1. Knife: The Spyderco Salt 2 – lightweight and rust-proof, perfect for humid conditions.
  2. Watch: Casio G-Shock GA2100-1A1 – tough, reliable, and water-resistant.
  3. Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW): Smith & Wesson M&P Shield Plus – compact and lightweight, paired with the Urban Carry G3 holster.
  4. Lightweight Backpack or Sling Bag: Tomtoc Xpac sling to carry all my essentials without adding too much weight.
  5. Water Bottle: Hydaway collapsible silicone water bottle to keep my drink cool.
  6. Sunglasses: Oakley Holbrook Polarized to protect my eyes from the sun.
  7. Hat: Lightweight and breathable to keep the sun off my face.
  8. Portable Fan: A small, battery-operated fan to beat the heat.
  9. Moisture-Wicking Clothing: Fabrics like cotton, linen, or moisture-wicking synthetics to stay cool and dry.
  10. Sunscreen: High-SPF to protect my skin from UV rays.
  11. Handkerchief or Small Towel: For wiping sweat and staying fresh.
  12. Minimalist Wallet: Trayvax Element to keep my pockets light.
  13. Phone and Portable Charger: To ensure my phone stays charged.
  14. Insect Repellent: To keep bugs at bay.

Putting It to the Test

Armed with my AI-curated EDC, I set out to tackle the weekend. Here’s how it went:

Day 1: The Great Outdoors – exploring the smokies

Early morning hike! The Spyderco Salt 2 came in handy for cutting the frayed ends of my boot laces and cutting through a vine that go twisted around my leg somehow. And, the G-Shock kept great time without worrying about the battery ever dying like I would with my Apple watch. The portable fan was an absolute no-go since I 1) don’t own one and 2) don’t envision myself as an elderly woman. However,  the water bottle did kept me hydrated. The minimalist wallet (Trayvax Element) has always been a perfect choice for carrying just the essentials, and the insect repellent kept the mosquitoes and gnats away.

Day 2: Exploring Knoxville

For a day in the city, the lightweight backpack was perfect for carrying my gear. The sunglasses and hat kept the sun at bay, and the moisture-wicking clothing kept me comfortable. The CCW was discreet and comfortable with the CYA Supply Co holster. The phone and portable charger ensured I stayed connected, and the handkerchief was great for wiping off sweat.

Real Talk: would I do this again?

Overall, ChatGPT’s EDC recommendations were just pretty good! The items were practical, lightweight, and perfect for hot and humid conditions. I don’t plan on walking around with a portable fan, but in fairness, I did tell ChatGPT that it was going to be a hot weekend. I was surprised that it picked a reasonable concealed carry choice and knife option. So overall……if you’re ever in doubt about what to carry, it doesn’t hurt to ask – it might just surprise you!
