Most people don’t realize that traditional margaritas only have three ingredients and are incredibly easy to make. Michelle and I took a trip to Mexico last year, where we learned to make both margaritas AND salsa! And I’m not talking the pre add mixes or cheap jarred crap either.
So in true Gears,Guns, and Grub fashion I’m gonna teach you how to make both. But since cooking can work up a real thirst, I think it’s best if I start with the margarita. So hide your car keys and lets light this candle!
Ingredients you’ll need:
- 1 shot tequila (no need for anything super fancy, but cheap tequila will leave you sick at the thought of the smell for years to come.
- 1 shot Controy (orange liqueur)
- Juice of 1/2 lime
Pour both shots into a lowball glass over ice, and using a press add the juice of half a lime. Tip: roll your lime using the palm of your hand onto the counter surface. This releases the juices inside of the pulp and produces more volume overall. Add more or less limes to tastes and dependent on what limes you choose (true Mexican limes have a completely different flavor all together)
Stir well to chill. Start making your second one!
You can make this same version as a frozen concoction, and even add strawberries if your feeling pretty that day…..hahaha!
