Since John Browning designed the first 1911 there has never been a more beautiful firearm. Together with its proven durability and reliability, this may be the sexiest piece of art you’ll ever hold in your hands.
With mass production taking over the world in which we live, Kimber has been able to achieve a level of greatness far superior than any of its competition. Each and everytime I take one of my Kimbers to the range, I leave with the same ear to ear smile on my face – and it’s been that way since the first time I inboxed them.
As with all of my firearms, the first thing I like to do is to collletely field strip and clean the gun. I feel like this gives me a chance to become familiar with how the gun operates while cleaning off all the factory packaging grease at the same time. What I noticed when I did this with my Kimbers was the precision of fit and finish. Call me crazy but I hate it when you pick up a gun and shake it back and forth only to hear a rattle. You will not get that from a Kimber. It’s like shutting the door on an exotic car….. just pure solid craftsmanship. I also found that I love the beefy barrel, especially with traditional 1911 styling qualities.
Range time will never disappoint with these guns. Out of the box they are as accurate as you will find. One tip though- spend some time practicing the trigger break. These guns are made with a light and precise trigger feel. If you are used to a Glock or similar gun, the Kimber may surprise you.
At the time of this post I currently own a Kimber Pro Carry, and a Kimber Micro (.380). Both of these are twins of each other in two-tone with rosewood grips. I have also owned a Pro Carry II in stainless which I regret selling everyday. Also a such as I love my .380, I wish I would have known that there would be a 9mm micro model.
Bottom line – spend a little extra and buy yourself at least one Kimber. You will be the envy of all your shooting buddies and you will have a timeless firearm that will last a lifetime.
